Frilly Moses Baskets

A popular style for coverings for baskets is to have frilly moses baskets, a popular design is the Broderie Anglaise which have frilly and lace edging that dates back to the nineteenth century.

This type of intricate lacing and needlework makes your moses basket look a lot more attractive and gives a more expensive feel to your babies bedding. These are machine washable even though they look quite delicate, however always follow the washing instructions carefully. It is useful to have a spare set of moses basket covers for when you have one set in the wash or you need to change you existing set in a hurry especially if your little one has been sick or posseting (bringing up a little bit of milk which most babies do).

Deluxe Broderie Anglaise moses basket covers

You can expect to get plenty of frills on your Broderie Anglaise (English Embroidery) cover set. In fact most of the edges will have frills of varying designs depending on the set that you purchase. A set will usually consist of a hood cover, drapes which will vary in length but will be at least long enough to hide the basket. A quilt cover usually comes with the set and often a padded pillow which is generally for decorative purposes. The government currently recommends that your baby lay flat on their backs on a firm mattress with their head uncovered.

The quilt cover tends also tends to be for decorative purposes although the cocoon effect it provides does tend to sooth and reassure babies. They tend not to offer any real heat retentive qualities, you should rely on either sheets or a baby sleeping bag of the right TOG for the time of year.
