A question that comes up quite often is whether or not cheap moses baskets are as good as the more expensive ones. Not everyone can afford the top of the range brand items from new but as a new parent you don't want to cause any undue risk to your baby.
When it comes to buying all the things you need for your new born you soon find that the costs soon add up. The first thing you need to be reassured of is that items that are sold in the UK have to meet certain standards. This means that anything you buy will not do harm to your baby.
That being said getting the cheapest moses basket and moses basket covers is not always the most cost effective option. Through experience I have found the cheaper baskets not to be as rigid and I was often concerned when carrying the basket upstairs if the handles would break or it might bow in the middle. Thankfully it never did but if you are planning on reusing your basket I would recommend something that is going to last.
This is also true of the moses basket stand that you choose. If you are buying a moses basket and stand in a set make sure you are buying a sturdy stand. One thing you will find is that you will often trip or bump into the legs of the stand and if it is not very sturdy can be knocked over. This is especially hazardous at night time when you are half asleep. A lesson I quickly learned was to keep the basket and stand out of your regular walking path in your bedroom.
If you do want to save money you could cut costs by not getting a set of replacement moses basket covers or just getting a really cheap set for emergencies. If you are organised you can get the covers washed, dried and back on before your baby needs their next nap.
